i would plug it in and it would freeze windows explorer. something similar like this happened with the same HD when i had windows. it would show up in disk utility but it wont mount. on day when i plugged it in, it just wouldn't mount. You can copy and paste any file from your Mac to your Passport and vice versa. i have a 320 GB WD HD that i used to connect to my mac for storing media.

If you know the recovery key for your encrypted volume repeat the above and try the recovery key instead of the normal password.Two perfectly fine external HD's now unmountable, even in terminal using disk utility. I do not think this is related to your having just updated your Mac operating system although you don't list what you upgrade from and to. It seems your Mac is having problems accessing this FileVault2 encrypted drive. When I initially read the title of your post I thought this might be down to the WD utility needing to be updated but this is clearly not that. If no ODR 1234567 or My Passport drive appears after unlocking, check to see if your data was recovered from a Mac.
